The Clark County Basic EMT Academy is a comprehensive, no-cost training program designed to prepare participants for careers in emergency medical services (EMS). This intensive program combines classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, and real-world preparation to ensure graduates are ready to serve as certified Emergency Medical Technicians in our community.

Our Basic EMT course follows a proven two-phase approach that builds foundational knowledge before diving into intensive EMT training:
A two-week intensive preparation period that covers essential first responder foundational concepts and prepares students for the rigorous EMT training ahead.
Six weeks of comprehensive, in-person EMT certification training covering all aspects of emergency medical care, from patient assessment to life-saving interventions.

This EMS academy program is fully funded through federal relief money with no cost to participants. Eligible students may also receive stipends and additional support services.
Our program is designed for beginners. We’ll teach you everything you need to know to succeed as an EMT, regardless of your background.
Graduate job-ready in just nine weeks. Whether your goal is to work in healthcare or fire departments, our accelerated format gets you into the full-time workforce quickly while maintaining high training standards.
Successful completion of the EMT-Basic Training course is your entry point into emergency medical care and the first step toward Advanced EMT or Paramedic training.

The Basic EMT Academy is offered through Clark County’s Office of Community and Economic Development in partnership with Workforce Connections. This collaboration ensures participants receive not only excellent training but also career support and connections to local employers.
